Nora Kathrine Murphy, age 82 years, died Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Baptist Health of Corbin in Corbin, Kentucky.
She was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on September 16, 1936 the daughter of the late Travis Finley and Martha Jane (Taylor) Bruce. Nora was a homemaker, member of the Sandhill United Baptist Church, Laurel Heights Chapter #288 Order of the Eastern Star, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward "Toad" Murphy; brothers, Ray Bruce and Curtis Bruce, sister, Pauline King; father of her children, Gene Jones; and grandson, Jason Bartley.
Survivors include her sons, David Gene Jones and wife, Janice of Whitley City, and Ronnie Alan Jones and wife, Mary Ann of Stearns; daughters, Brenda Bartley and husband, Bill and Beverly Branscum and husband, Alvin both of Stearns; sister Dorothy Thomas of Cincinnati, grandchildren, Season Bartley, Ben and Jennifer Branscum, Allison Jones, Jamey Jones, Amy Bray, Kaitlyn and Tyler Stephens, Nicole Bryant, Brian Greene, Tashia Roe, Tyler Greene, and Kayla Bruce; 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 1pm in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. Rufus Hughes officiating. Burial to follow in the Lower Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6pm Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the funeral home. Eastern Star Service Tuesday at 7:30pm.
