Penny Louise Dawson, age 57 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the Big Southfork Medical Center in Oneida, Tennessee.

She was born in Ohio on February 26, 1962 the daughter of Perry Dawson and Gloria Jean (King) Whitehead. Penny was a member of the Stearns First Baptist Church but had been attending the Hilltop Baptist Church. She loved talking, spending time with her grandchildren, sitting on the porch swing drinking coffee, watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right.

Her father; brother Danny Ray Dawson; and grandson, James VanOver III precede her in death.

Survivors include her mother, Gloria Whitehead (Bobby) of Stearns; son, Palace Gene Dawson of Whitley City; daughter, Tammy VanOver (Alex) of Revelo; brother Perry “Pooch” Edward Dawson of Maysville; step brother, Mark Baker of Ohio; sisters, Mary Ann Huffman, of Ripley, Ohio, Venita Smith of Felicity, Ohio, Tina Aries of Aberdeen, Ohio, Gail Casey and Crystal both of Maysville; step sister, Terry Childers of Ohio; grandchildren, Andrew VanOver, Xavier VanOver, and Clarissa VanOver; and best friend, Carl Bryant, Jr of Whitley City.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 26, 2019 at 8 in the McCreary County Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after 6pm Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Stearns Cemetery on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 11am.
