Abraham "Abe" Lincoln Chitwood

Abraham “Abe” Lincoln Chitwood, age 84 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on February 12, 1935 the son of John and Myrtle (Waters) Chitwood. Abe had worked as a carpenter, was a member of the Flat Rock Baptist Church, and loved beekeeping and gardening. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were a special part of his life.

His parents; wife, Lula Belle (Young) Chitwood; brothers, Ernest Chitwood, Lawrence Chitwood, Henry Chitwood, and Jimmy Chitwood; and grandchildren, Aimee Chitwood and Mandy Strunk precede him in death.

Survivors include his sons, Steve Chitwood (Tona), Darrell Chitwood (Marilyn), Tommy Chitwood (Rhonda), all of Whitley City, and Daryl Shane Chitwood (Felicia) of Somerset; daughters, Freda Strunk (Jeff), Patsy Vanover (Tim), and Patricia Chitwood (Bobby) all of Whitley City; brothers, Jack Chitwood and John Junior Chitwood both of Whitley City; sisters, Mary Jo Sharp of Georgia, Jean Huff od Monticello, Sue Duvall of Stearns, Ila Corder of Whitley City, and Elaine Stoker of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Nikki Kidd, Cody Chitwood, Darren Chitwood, Corey Chitwood, Mandy Chitwood, Stacey Musgrove, Todd Strunk, Annessa Morrow, Jennifer Vanover, Alisha Genoe, Heather Meadows, Christopher Perkins, Logan Chitwood, Brier Chitwood, and Xavier Chitwood; and great grandchildren, Greyson Kidd, Donovan Marnhout, Bella Marnhout, Ryleigh Chitwood, Luke Chitwood, Lucy Kate Chitwood, Brynlee Dean, Jace Chitwood, Ryan Strunk, Keegan Musgrove, Morgan Musgrove, Leighton Musgrove, Mackensie Morrow, Madison Morrow, Tristan Genoe, Caden Genoe, Miley Genoe, Emanuel Meadows, Sammy Meadows, Hadley Meadows, Sawyer Meadows, Heidi Perkins, and Haylen Perkins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 1pm in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Staley and Bro. Roger Bryant officiating. Burial to follow in the Holloway Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11am Saturday at the funeral home.
