Arvil Lee Hicks

Arvil Lee Hicks departed from this life on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was born in McCreary County, Kentucky, on December 7, 1943 to the late Earl D. Perry and Maggie (Perriman) Vanover.  Having attained the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 6 days old.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him: George and Lula Hicks, daughter: Patricia Hicks, brothers: Lawrence Vanover Jr, Infant Jimmy Lee Vanover, and brother in law: Donald Sumner.

Surviving family includes: wife: Geraldine (Sumner) Hicks, sons: Scottie (Susie) Hicks, and Ronnie Hicks, brothers: Robert (Mary) Vanover, Billy Vanover, and Dale Perry, sisters: Joyce Keith, and Peggy (Allen) Ridner, brother in laws: Bobby Gene (Ruth) Sumner, and Richard Sumner, sister in law: Linda Sumner, grandchildren: Tabitha (Kyler) Slaven, Morgan Hicks- Stogsdill, and Summer Hicks, great grandchildren: Noahlee Grace Slaven.

Arvil worked in the log woods and in his free time when he was able he enjoyed fishing, and planting a garden. He loved watching westerns on television, classic cars, eating hamburgers and sitting on the front porch. He served his country in the United State Army and National Guard Army Reserves.  

Funeral Services: McCreary County Funeral Home Chapel Monday, September, 18 2017 at 8:00 PM.

Visitation: from 6:00 PM until time for services at the funeral home.

Graveside service: Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Taylor Ridge Cemetery.
