Brian Cordis Griffis, 35, passed away on September 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 25, 1990, in Somerset, Kentucky, to Beverly Wilson Duncan (Jim) and Curtis Griffis.
Brian will be remembered as a caring, adventurous, and witty soul who loved deeply. Though private by nature, his greatest passion was his family. If you cared about him and his family, you became part of his family—and he gave you his whole heart in return. He was also a forgiving person, able to push past difficult moments and move forward with his life full force, always striving to make the most of each day.
Brian’s competitive spirit showed in all aspects of his life, from online gaming to board and card games with his mother. He had a deep love for music, with Linkin Park and Skillet holding the top spots on his playlists. Movies and television were another joy for him, especially horror films and favorite shows like Dexter and King of the Hill, which he loved watching with his mom. A true computer fanatic, Brian pushed himself to build the most powerful, fastest, and cutest gaming computers possible. Whatever he set his mind to, he poured his whole heart, focus, and energy into it.
Brian is survived by his mother, Beverly Wilson Duncan (Jim), and his father, Curtis Griffis. He is also survived by his loving aunts and uncles: Julie Ridner (Steve), Sandy Wilson, Kristie Wilson (Rudy), Richard Wilson, Michael Wilson, Margaret Griffis, Tim Griffis (Pam), Raymond Griffis, Lesly Terry (Bill), Connie Ross (Randall), and David & Sherry Griffis. Brian’s life was further blessed by his many cousins—Arron, Alex, Abbie, Ricky Jason, Monica, Jacob, Melissa, Timmy, Chelsea, Cierra, T.J., Devon, Dylan, Brooklyn, and Nathaniel. He also shared a bond of more than 15 years with his gaming brother and friend, Robert Kintz, and held his second cousin, Isaiah Wilson, close as a brother.
Brian was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Ernest and Dellie Ross, grandparents, Carrol and Vella Dean Wilson, great-grandparents Cordis and Bonnie Jones, grandmother Helen Griffis, uncle Rick Griffis, and his partner in mischief, his beloved dog and “child,” Tipper.
Brian is survived as well by many dear friends and family who were blessed to be a part of his life.
This quote by D. Sasson simply reflects Brian's life: “Respect means honoring other people's boundaries and recognizing their right to make their own decisions and choices.”
Fly high, Beautiful!
