Butler Eugene Waters

Butler Eugene Waters, age 82, husband of Annemarie Rohrl Waters passed away October 23, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

He was born March 27, 1939 at Whitley City, Kentucky, son of the late Butler J. Watters, and Margie (King) Watters, McCreary County, Kentucky.
Butler retired from U.S. Army, 20 years Honorable Service Combat Veteran with the Black Horse Regiment (11 A.C.R.). He graduated from college at a Certified Teacher in Kentucky, he taught Junior ROTC at Pulaski and McCreary Counties, coached varsity rifle team, earned several State Championships and one National Champion, that was awarded at West Point, New York, by N.R.A.
He was elected Magistrate for the #3 District of McCreary County, rebuilt and paved Hwy 478 to Whitley County Line, re-established three (C.C.C.) road as a Kentucky main priority road, began reconstruction and paving of Peal Dog Wood road into New Liberty, replaced many wooden bridges with concrete drainage structures. He also helped draw boundary lines for redistricting of county as mandated by 1990 census. He was a Director of McCreary County E.M.S. during time of financial crises and Commissioner with McCreary County Water/Waste Water District for 15 years. Over 55 million dollars in Grants and Loans spent for McCreary County improvements.
Butler was employed by Jim Barna Log Systems for 10 years, 2000 top sales person, #1 in units sold, #1 in monies earned, member of Million Dollar Club.
He was a born again Christian, made a new creation in Christ Jesus, the husband of a beautiful wife, Annemarie Rohrl Waters, for 61 years, had four wonderful GOD fearing children, James B. Waters and wife Sophia of Stearns, Kentucky, Thomas E. Waters of Clarksville, TN., Mary Lou Thomas and husband Donald of Stearns, Kentucky and Gabrielle Jones and husband Ken of Jacksonville, FL., nine special grand-children, nine precious great grand-children, nine brothers and sisters, with one brother preceding him in death, and he also leaves a group of family that he loved, cherished and thanked GOD for each day. He enjoyed a personal relationship with his LORD and Savior JESUS CHRIST. Bottom line, HE is the great I AM. I am all that I am because of His Grace and Love. Choices have consequences, as the Father leads, chose Jesus as LORD and Savior before it is eternally to late, AVOID HELL! It’s your choice, choose life in Jesus, or eternal hell with Satan the devil. John 3: 3-21; Ecclesiastes 12, 13 and 14.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.


McCreary County Funeral home entrusted with the arrangements for Cremation of his body as he requested. He hopes to see you in Heaven in his glorified body. ALL IS WELL IN CHRIST JESUS!
