Carol Faye Waters Griffis, age 66 years, of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, formerly of Smithtown, Kentucky died August 5, 2014, at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky. Funeral Services were held Friday, August 8, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Rev. James Cox officiating. Burial was in the Angel Cemetery.
She was born in Somerset, Kentucky on August 8, 1947 daughter of the late Lincoln and Mildred (Childers) Waters. She was a Cook for the McCreary County School System and a member of Pleasant Rock United Baptist Church.
Her parents; husband, Hillery A. Griffis; brothers, Estil Waters and Abraham Lincoln Waters Jr, sisters; Imojean Dawson, Shirley Cooper, Ella Mae Hannon, and Bobbie Lee Waters precede her in death.
Survivors include: daughters; April and Tobee Harris of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, Wanda and James Stephens of Whitley City, Kentucky, sisters; Geraldine Morrison of Muncie, Indiana, Lois Reed of Muncie, Indiana, Louise Tapley of Muncie, Indiana, Donna Sonnenberg of Michigan, and Debbie Ball of Stearns, Kentucky, brother; S.T Waters of South Carolina, grandchildren; Ashley, James Michael, Britney, Whitney, Jessica and Tyler, great grandchildren; Billy David, Nathan, and Mason.
