Charles Hoyt Keith age 84 of Stanford, Kentucky, formerly of McCreary County, passed from this life on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford.

He was born January 30, 1935 in Yamacraw, Kentucky to the late Roy Keith and Martha Leona (McCullah) Keith. In addition to his parents, Hoyt is preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Ruth Ina (Devine) Keith, brothers, Estes, Erstle, Glenville “BJ”, and Shirrel Keith, and a sister, Shelva Jean Brooks.

Surviving family include his children, Anthony Wayne Keith (wife, Melissa) of Nicholasville, Kentucky and Vickie Lynn Young (husband, Terry) of Lexington; a granddaughter, Glenna Nicole Young; his loving partner for more than 30 years, Mary Lou Sowders; her sons, Jeff Sowders and Joey Sowders, all of Stanford; grandchildren, Caleb, Codie, Jordan, and Jaylan Sowders; and a great-granddaughter, Ollie Napier.

Also surviving are Hoyt’s brothers, S.T. Keith (and wife, Irene) of Florence, Kentucky and Ralph Keith of Ohio; a sister, Carol Branscum of Whitley City, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly.

Hoyt was always a happy smiling soul. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served his country from 1956 until 1959 and was a Screaming Eagle 101 Airborne at Fort Campbell. Hoyt was also a Kentucky Colonel and had sold Life Insurance for over 23 years. In his own time, Hoyt enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching UK Basketball, and doing wood work. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Dean Stork and Bro. Todd Devine officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Creek Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 115, Stearns, Kentucky. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday after 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
