Charles Ray Smith, age 53 years, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at the family home in Dobbs Hollow Community of Stearns, Kentucky.
He was born in McCreary County on August 11, 1972 the son of Jerry R and Mila H. (Spradlin) Smith. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mila H. Smith; brother, Bobby L. Smith; sister, Teresa L. (Smith) Higginbotham; brother-in-law, Johnny Higginbotham; grandparents, Lummer and Lola (Hicks) Smith and Lawrence and Lettie (Perry) Spradlin; father and mother-in-law, Dester and Wilma J. (Jones) Dobbs; and brother-in-law, Bradley Dobbs.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Lynn (Dobbs) Smith, whom he married on June 8, 1996 od Stearns, Kentucky; father, Jerry R. Smith of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; sister, Loretta (Doug) Ridener of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.
Charles loved to hunt and fish with his family and friends, he also loved to ginseng and helping others, he served in his community as a volunteer firefighter, and become Chief in 2021 for the West McCreary Fire Department. He will be sadly missed and loved by all that knew him.
Funeral services will be held 11am Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. John Goodin and Bro. Terry West officiating. Burial will follow in the Bud Gregory Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6pm Monday, May 11, 2026 at the Funeral Home.
