Deola Grace Shannon

Deola Grace Shannon, age 90 years, of the Smithtown Community died Sunday, October 30, 2022 at her home.

She was born in Morgan County, Tennessee on July 21, 1932 the daughter of John Aaron and Della (Mosier) Diden.  Deola had retired from Kroger as a deli worker, and was a member of the Pleasant Rock United Baptist Church.  She enjoyed traveling, camping, reading, looking at the fall leaves, but most important were her children and grandchildren.

Her parents; husband, Lonnie Shannon; brothers, John Diden, Jake Diden, ER Diden, James Diden, and Joseph Diden; and sisters, Bertie Miller, Beulah Morgan, and Edna Walker precede her in death.

Survivors include her children, Lonnie Ray Shannon and wife, Teresa of Stearns, Kentucky, Lonald Wayne Shannon and wife, Liz of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Roger Paul Shannon and wife, Karon of Goshen, Ohio, Sandra Lee Parriman and husband, William of Pine Knot, Kentucky, David Keith Shannon of North Liberty, Iowa, and Glenn Allan Shannon of Ripley, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1pm Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Hobert Corder and Bro. Dustin Shannon officiating.  Burial will follow in the Diden Family Cemetery in Sunbright, Tennessee. The family will receive friends after 11am Saturday at the Funeral Home.
