DONALD RANKIN SHOOPMAN, JR.

Donald Rankin Shoopman, Jr. age 79 years, of Pine Knot, Kentucky died July, 28, 2019 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky

He was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on February 16, 1940 the son of Donald Rankin and Hattie (Tucker) Shoopman. Donald had worked in Maintenance for Hilton Davis Chemical Company. He was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed golfing, yard work, fishing, hunting, grandchildren, and his dog, Bear.

His parents; wife, Velma Jean (Bryant) Shoopman; brother, Tommy “Pide” Shoopman; and sisters, June Stephens and Shirley Ross precede him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Theresa Bowen of Norwood, Ohio; brother, Raymond Shoopman and wife, Ann of Stearns; sisters, Nedra Duysen and husband, Larry of Maryland, Linda Slaven of Whitley City, and Donna Strunk and husband, Sam of Pine Knot; grandchildren, Dewey “Tony” Bowen and Ashley Gonazales and husband, Joey; and great grandchildren, Joshua Gonazales and Archer Gonazales.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 11am in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Bowen officiating. Burial to follow in the Angel Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6pm Friday, August 2, 2019 at the funeral home.
