EARL E. BROOKS

December 13, 1953 — July 23, 2016

Earl E. Brooks, age 62, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016, at his home in Whitley City, Kentucky.

Born December 13, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Chester “Ed” Brooks and Thelma (Minor) Burton. 

Surviving family include his wife Kimberly (Jones) Brooks of Whitley City, his father Chester “Ed” Brooks and wife Jean of Whitley City, his mother Thelma Burton of Whitley City, a son Clifford “Frank’ Brooks (and Elizabeth Watts) of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, a daughter, Savannah ‘Winn’ Kidd (husband Darrin) of Whitley City, two brothers: Chester Edward Brooks, Jr. of Lexington, Kentucky and Jack Brooks of Winfield, Tennessee, : three sisters: Phyllis Ann Lyons of Whitley City, Jennifer Stork of Richmond, Kentucky and Tammy ‘Jody’ Sedivi of Whitley City, and two grandchildren:  Darian and Chloe Kidd.

Earl had been a welding instructor at the Pine Knot Job Corps.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy, was a member of the Kinne Slaven Post 115 of the American Legion, the VFW and was a member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge.  He attended the Upper Hickory Grove Baptist Church.  He enjoyed working in his garage, gardening and cooking.  He loved his family and friends and making people smile.  He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

 

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 25, 2016, in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie King officiating.  A Masonic service will be held at 6:30 p.m.  He will be laid to rest at the Higginbotham Cemetery following the services.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. until time for services at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as pall bearers are Frank Brooks, James Lyons, Darrin Kidd, Steve Glenn, Greg Jones and Jack Brooks.
