Elbert Vernon Phillips

Elbert Vernon Phillips age 61 of Somerset, Kentucky died on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at his home. 

He was born on July 12, 1964 in Marshes Siding, Kentucky to the late Alfred Phillips and Zula (Lyons) Phillips Harness. Due to the death of his father at such a young age, he was raised by the only dad he knew, Esco Harness. 

In addition to his parents, Vernon is also preceded in death by a sister, Charlene Phillips and a nephew, Michael. 

Surviving family include his brothers, Ernie Phillips (and Melissa) of Stearns, Bernie Phillips (and Candy) of Dalton, Georgia, and Tony Harness of Dalton, GA; a sister, Lisa Juntunen (and Glen) of Whitley City; nephews, Corey (and Lexie), Codey (and Riley), and Cody (and Keisha); nieces, Cortney, Gabby, and Shelby; a great-nephew, Weston James and a great-niece, Tatum Faye.

Vernon was of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed going fishing, basketball, and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Mitchell Bunch officiating. Burial to follow in the Angel Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday after 11:00 am until service time.
