Fontella Vanover

Fontella Vanover, age 71, passed from this life on Monday, June 26, 2017, at her home in Parkers Lake, Kentucky.

She was born in Parkers Lake, Kentucky on November 7, 1945, to the late Caleb and Sadie Perry Strunk.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her infant daughter: Susan Victoria Vanover, brothers, Ronnie Gary Strunk, Harold Strunk, Clayton Strunk and one brother in-law: Benny Price.

Surviving family include her husband of 55 years, Archie "Johnny"  Vanover, of Parkers Lake, a son, Marcus Lee Vanover and wife Krista of Somerset, Kentucky, sisters: Phyllis Price of Westchester, Ohio and Brenda Whisman and husband Gary of Cincinnati, Ohio, brothers: Wendell and wife Phyllis Strunk of Westchester, Ohio, Darrell and wife Mary Lou Strunk of Whitley City, Kentucky, Donald and wife Myrtle Strunk of Whitley City.  She has two grandchildren: Riley and Hayden Vanover of Somerset, Kentucky.

Fontella was a member of Eagle Creek United Baptist Church and she taught school in the McCreary County School System, her greatest passions were education, gardening and spending time with her two grandchildren.  We trust our loss is Heaven's gain.

Funeral for Fontella is Friday, June 30 at 11:00 am in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Brothers Rufus Hughes and Billy Patrick officiating, burial at the Higginbotham Cemetery following funeral services.  The family will receive friends Thursday at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
