George William Whitehead, age 80, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Baptist Health Corbin.
He was born in Worley, Kentucky, on February 2, 1941, to the late Denton and Ethel Ross Whitehead. George drove a garbage truck for Scott Solid Waste. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed being outdoors at Rock Creek and in the mountains, but his greatest joy was spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandson, Liam Worley, he loved them all dearly. He really missed his nephew Jimmy “Sam” Daugherty.
George is survived by his former wife; Doris Jean Hall, the mother of his children and his best friend, Sons; Johnny Whitehead of Stearns, KY., Gary Whitehead and wife Becky of Stearns, KY., a special son; Lonnie Hall of Stearns, KY., daughter: Joyce Worley and husband Roy of Stearns, KY., brother; Ardell Whitehead and wife Judy of Stearns, KY., sisters; Alma Daugherty, Wilma Sterling and Audrey Jones all of Stearns, KY., Eleven grandchildren and Twelve great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Denton and Ethel Ross Whitehead, he is preceded in death by his brother; Rev. Glenn Whitehead and nephew; Jimmie “Sam” Daugherty.
Funeral Service for George Whitehead will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Brother Ray Sumner and Brother David Troxell officiating, with Burial to follow in the Nancy Grave Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am Wednesday, October 27th, until time for funeral service at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home.
