Grover Franklin Coffey

Grover Franklin Coffey, age 67 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky went top be with the Lord on May 9, 2026.

He was born at Worley Hilltop, Kentucky on April 23, 1959 the son Grover Coffey and Lora Irene (Davis) Hill. Grover had been a former welder, and helped create the modern Blue Heron Mine 18 Outdoor Museum. He was of the Baptist Faith, enjoyed hunting, going fishing, horses, and spending quality time with his family. He loved music, watching John Wayne shows, and making everyone around him laugh.

Grover was preceded in death by his father, Grover Coffey and mother, Lora Hill (Bill).

Survivors include his spouse, Brittany Salla (Coffey), their two children, Matthew Salla (Coffey) and Madyson Salla (Coffey); former wife, Peggy Coffey, and their two children, Nicholas Coffey and Candice Messenger; grandchildren, Christopher Messenger, Aubree Messenger, Elise Coffey, Garrett Coffey, Bella Coffey, Nichol Coffey, Shane Coffey, and Lita Coffey; siblings, Judy Worley (Dan), Janice Vanover (Ponch), Beth Watkins (Buddy), Cecil Coffey, Alice Craig (Jeff), Sondra Pryor (Rodney), and Sandy Stephens (Chip).

Grover has cast his last line at the greatest fishing hoe, where there is no pain, only peace. Fish on, till we see you again.

Funeral services for Grover are Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Brother Johnny Wayne Inman officiating. Visitation beginning at 2:00 PM until time for funeral service. Burial will follow in the Corder Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
