James Ray “Jim” Duncan, age 74 years died Monday, February 2, 2026 at the Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky.
Jim was born in Somerset, Kentucky on July 23, 1951 the son of the late James P. Duncan Jr. and Tilda Evelee (Lewis) Duncan. He worked for Blue Diamond Coal Company as a coal miner for many years, and was a member of the East Appletree United Baptist Church. Jim was best known for being a devoted family man, and sharing his love for the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Pamela Jane (West) Duncan; a sister, Tammy Sue Duncan and a grandson, James Robert Duncan.
Survivors include his son. Robert Ray Duncan and wife, Wendy of Stearns, Kentucky; brother, Robert Lee “Buzz” Duncan and wife, Carol of Stearns, Kentucky; grandchildren, Magen Witt (Travis), Bethany Duncan (Megan), James Duncan, and Brandon Duncan; great grandchildren, Leah, Ethan, and Elijah Witt, and Lakelynn McClellan; special daughter in law, Monica Duncan; and nieces Lori Duncn and Hannah Colbeth.
Funeral services will be held 3pm Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Mike Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Angel Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 1pm Thursday at the Funeral Home.
The family has suggested that donations may be made to McCreary County Funeral Home to assist with remaining funeral expenses.
