James Oliver Smith

James “Oliver” Smith, 69 of Martinsville, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.

He was born on April 5, 1950 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to Ed and Ethel (Gilreath) Smith. He married Debbie Wilkerson on February 28, 1970. She lovingly survives. He is also survived by children, Keith (Brandi) Smith; Kimberly (Kevin) Sheeks and Katrina (Matthew) Mueller; four grandchildren, Zoe and Carly Sheeks and Sydney & Rory Mueller. Also surviving are brother, Leonard Smith and three sisters, Barb (Howard) Tallent, Mary (Russ) Lemke and Ann (Homer) Goodman. He was preceded in passing by his parents and siblings, Floyd, Lloyd, Elmer, Charles and Jimmy Smith; Laura Bell Allen, Patsy Honeycutt and Berthie Mae Smith.

He attended school in Pine Knot, Kentucky.

Oliver owned and operated Smith Paving Company in Martinsville for over forty years.

He enjoyed attending Auctions and loved to spend time with his granddaughters.

A celebration of Oliver’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with calling from   4:00 p.m. to time of service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
