John Wayne Stanton

John Wayne Stanton, age 65 years, of Parkers Lake, Kentucky died Sunday, August 2, 2026 at the Baptist Health Corbin, Kentucky.

He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 3, 1961 the son of the late Edgar and Mable (Bentley) Stanton. John was a retired Sergeant First Class of the United States Army after over 20 years, and had worked at Armstrong after his retirement. His greatest joy in life were his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, John Wayne Stanton, Jr.; daughter, Candy Dawn Whitehead; brother, James Stanton; and sister, Helen Smith.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Brittany Elaine Howard; granddaughters, Haylee Rae Stanton and Autumn Paisley Stanton; and sister, Norma Sutton.

A private graveside service was held at Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #115.
