Josie Irene Gosnell, age 69, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, Tennessee.
She was born in Honeybee, Kentucky on October 19, 1948, the daughter of the late Dow and Alpha Perry Ridner. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her children: infant daughter, Georgia Lynn Perry and son: Charles Wayne Perry. Also prececed in death by her brothers: Richard (Pete) Ridner and Dewey Ridner, by sisters: Betty Fuller and Juanita (Faye) Lewis.
Surviving family include a son: Marshall Staten of Whitley City, grandchildren: Braedin Staten (whom she adopted) of Pine Knot, Kentucky and Cortney Perry of Stearns, Kentucky, also two great-grandchildren: Aiden Griffis and Faith Phelps, brothers: Darrell “Leo” and wife Geraldean Ridner and Hurstle “John” and wife Faye Ridner both of Whitley City, Kentucky, Sisters: Mary Cox and Rachel and her husband Dillard Bryant both of Pine Knot, Kentucky, a very special little boy, Kase King who called her Mamaw, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Josie was a homemaker and a member of the Pine Knot United Baptist Church. Josie loved spending time with her family and singing gospel music.
The earthly loss of Josie will be mourned by all who knew her, but we know that our loss is her eternal gain.
Services for Josie will be held Tuesday, November 21, at 1:00 PM with visitation at 11:00 am until time for service. Burial will be in the Mill Creek Cemetery.
