Joyce D Smith

Joyce D. Smith, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016, at her home in Pine Knot, Kentucky.  She was 79 years old.

Born May 10, 1937, at Co-op, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Virgil (Pete) Lewis and Minnie Ethel (Jones) Lewis.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Robert Edd Smith, brothers: Eston Lewis, Virgil Leon “Pap” Lewis, Larry Lewis, Lloyd Lewis and four sisters: Lela Kidd and Othela Tea Duncan and Mildred “Midge” Davis as well as an infant Fayrene Lewis.

Surviving family include six sons: Edgar Ralph of Indianapolis, Indiana, Carroll Ray of Pine Knot, Mance Randall of Indianapolis, Danny Rex of Indianapolis, Stevie Robert of Sheboygan, Wisconsin,  and Gary Wayne of Pine Knot, daughters: Lena Rosie of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Lanta Sue of Pine Knot.  He has one surviving brother: Edward Lewis of Marshes Siding, Kentucky, four sisters: Ella May Smith of Muncie, Indiana, Evalee Duncan of Revelo, Kentucky, Nelda Martin of Revelo, and Carolyn Helbert of Revelo.  She had 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Joyce was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith.  She enjoyed playing the guitar and singing at church.

Funeral services:  11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016, in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Perry and Tim Corder officiating.  Burial at the Privett Cemetery at Strunk, Kentucky.

Visitation:  Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home
