Lois Ann Dobbs, age 66, of Whitley City, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.
Born in Monticello, Kentucky, on December 5, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Amp Gregory and Georgie Haynes. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her long-time companion, Jim Shook, two brothers, Denver Haynes and Bob Haynes, four sisters: Christine Guffey, Eva Guffey, Pearlie Bolin and Alma Ruth Gregory.
Surviving family include sons: Derek Dobbs of Whitley City and Chad Eric Dobbs (Sherry) of Pine Knot, and Jimmy Shook, III, and one surviving sister, Shirley Cooper (and Charles “Bugs”) of Stearns.
There is one grandchild, Devan Dobbs and two great grandchildren: Davian Dobbs and Canaan Lloyd.
Lois had worked at Quest Community Services for 8 to 10 years and previously at American Bag Corporation in Stearns for 10 years. She enjoyed her flowers and her dogs. She liked to feed all stray cats that came by and any kind of animal that came along. She was of the Baptist faith and will be sadly missed.
In keeping with her wishes, she was cremated.
