Listen to Obituary

Madge Deloris Vanover, age 69 years, of Strunk, Kentucky died Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at her home.

She was born May 12, 1957 the daughter of the late Goman and Kinzella (Keith) Vanover in Cincinnati, Ohio. Deloris had worked as a CNA and was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

She answered to other names besides, Madge and Deloris; Lorsey, Lulu, Maw and Mom, but the most precious to her was Mamaw. She was even called Mamaw by children and other than her own grandchildren. She treasured knowing that she had made people feel special, no matter their age.

She had a career as a caregiver and carried that instinct with her well beyond her working years, always making sure that others were taken care of.

Among the many challenges of life, the most significant to her was the loss of her eyesight. She accepted that obstacle like all others and lived life to her fullest.

She loved music, some of her favorite memories were attending concerts and bluegrass festivals with family. If she heard music, you would often find her tapping her foot, singing along, or dancing.

Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and those she loved. Whether it be a family vacation, or simply sitting on the couch with them, she was the happiest when in their presence.

She loved fiercely and was loved by many, but most importantly, she Loved the Lord and had a testimony of His Salvation for her.

Her loyalty, compassion, and testimony for the Lord will endure through the lives of those who loved her and mourn her loss.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Goman Dwayne Vanover and David "Red" Russell Vanover.

Survivors include her daughter, Jamie King and husband, Donnie of Strunk, Kentucky; brothers, James Robert Vanover and Dewey Allen "Jabo" Vanover both of Stearns, Kentucky; sister, Rita Gail Coffey of Corbin, Kentucky; grandchildren, Dalton Vanover (Audrie), Courtney Taylor (Courtney), Lucas King (Jessa), Rayley King, and Marleigh King; and great grandchildren, Zoieejo King-Threet, Xadriana Taylor, and Waverly Vanover, Best friend; Ronnie Hurd, children in Christ; Theresa (David) Trammell, Roger (Angie) KIng, special neices; Stephenie (James) New, Angelia (Bert) Creekmore and Wendy (Charles) Pierce.
