Myrtle V. (Keith) Strunk from Pine Knot, Kentucky entered this world on July 18, 1946 born to Virgil and Ethel (Perry) Keith in the Day Ridge Community. Myrtle entered eternal rest at the age of 78 on July 9, 2025 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.
Preceding her in death but welcomed her home are husband, Donald Strunk; son Scott Keith; and granddaughter, Ava Grace Bryant. Besides her parents, are her siblings, brother, Thurman Keith; and sisters, Nora Patrick, Elva Ball, Verdie Clontz, Pauline Partin, Pearl Smith, and Mary Grubbs.
Surviving children who will miss their mother deeply are son, Derek Strunk (wife, Deanie) of Whitley City, Kentucky and daughter, Misty Bryant (husband, Dewey) of Pine Knot, Kentucky. Her grandchildren, who meant the entire world to her are Derica Hughes (husband, Clarence and their 5 children), Eli Strunk (wife, Mary and their 7 children), Anthony Keith (his wife and 2 children), Garrett Clift (wife, Chelsea and their 5 children), Kaylee Clift (Jessie and daughter), Gloria Bryant (Austin), and Raylan Bryant; and a special niece who was like a daughter to her, Tina Ball Campbell; brothers, Robert Keith (wife, Georgia) of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, Russell Keith (wife, Tammy) of Somerset, Kentucky, Larry Keith (wife, Donna) of Somerset, Kentucky, and Wayne Keith (wife, Gidget) of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; and sister, Kay Ball (husband, Wayne) of Corbin, Kentucky.
Myrtle leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews that she loved whole-heartedly and also leaves behind so many friends that she loved. The love she had for her nieces and nephews was always noticed and felt. Myrtle had a love for God and her gospel singing. She was the last surviving member of the Singing Ketih family, which was a group with her brother, and sisters, that sang at numerous churches and funerals.
She loved doing crossword puzzles, going to church, singing, watching and listening to Ralph Stanley, and her family, especially her grandchildren, but most, importantly, she loved her God.
One of the last things Myrtle said to her daughter was, “Tell everyone I love them, and get ready to see her and Jesus.”
Funeral services will be held 2pm Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Keith and Bro. Russell Keith officiating. Burial will follow in the Keith Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 12pm Sunday at the Funeral Home.
