NONA LAVERNE WALLEN

Nona Laverne Wallen, age 70, of Stearns, Kentucky, passed from this life Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

Nona had worked at the shirt factory, McCreary Manufacturing at Stearns; she was a member of the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God, she volunteered for the veterans services; and volunteered for the McCreary County School Board with various school programs.

She was born June 19, 1944, in Barthell, Kentucky, to the late Anthony and Mary Elizabeth (Selvidge) Pryor.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters; Charles Acey Pryor, Ambers Pryor, Bill Pryor, Jim Pryor, Luther Pryor, Enos Pryor, Juno Pryor, Flonnie Bryant and Nannie Creekmore.

Surviving family include her fiancé J.L. Vanover of Stearns, her children; Leroy (and Ginger) Wallen of Pine Knot, Anita Fay (and Dan Calvin) Henson of Breathitt County, David Gordon Mason of Manchester, Vanessa Mason of Stearns and James Wesley Mason of Stearns.  She has 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and her Chihuahua, M.J.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014, in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral with Rev. Stanley Taylor officiating.  Visitation will be Monday evening from 6 – 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
