Ovie Dean Miller

Ovie Dean Miller, age 79 years, of Strunk, Kentucky died Monday, August 5, 2024 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.

He was born in Pine Knot, Kentucky on April 21, 1945 the son of Willie and Ethel (Watson) Miller. Ovie had worked as a machine operator in a factory, loved fishing, camping, boating, listening to gospel music, working honeybees, and being on his mountain.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Calvin, Elijah, and Alvin; a grandson; and a great granddaughter.

Survivors include his sons, Gene Paul Cooper of Strunk, Kentucky, Alvis Lee Miller (Wanda) of Stearns, Kentucky, Billy Dean Miller (Trina) of Strunk, Kentucky, and Eric Scott Miller (Maxine) of Whitley City, Kentucky; brother, Charlie Miller of Pine Knot, Kentucky; sister, Willie Janie Miller Cooper-Lohr of Barnesville, Ohio; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1pm Friday, August 9, 2024 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11am Friday at the Funeral Home.
