Patsy Leon Owens

Patsy Leon (Jones) Owens passed from this life on July 31, 2019 at the age of 84. She was born in McCreary County on January 18th of 1935 to the late Rev. France and Desda (Strunk) Jones. She lived most of her life in McCreary County and she was a resident of the Beulah Heights community.

Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Lois (Sis) Vanover and Phyllis Vanover, brother Mearle Jones and several special nieces, nephews and friends.

She is survived by her children; Melanie Owens Taylor, Johnnie Owens and wife Karen, Rocky Owens, and Cathy Ball. Her 8 grandchildren and 15 Great-grandchildren. Brothers; Sheral (wife Linda) Jones, and Ruthel Jones and sister Marilyn (husband Ray) Sumner. And several special nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Patsy worked for 35 years at McCreary Manufacturing and then as a seamstress and quilter at home until the end of her life. She had an amazing talent to craft hand-made pieces that have been so special to many people.

She was a member at Indian Creek Baptist Church.

Throughout her life, Pat enjoyed; cooking, gardening, canning, playing Bingo, family reunions, telling stories, sewing, collecting quilt pieces and buttons, “piddlin”, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and special nieces and nephews.

Patsy has made an everlasting impact on everyone who knew her. Her amazingly skilled hands as a seamstress, her countless acts of selflessness, her overwhelming love, and her hilarious sense of humor will always be her family’s most prized memories of her. She was filled with so much life, love, personality, talent, and compassion.

Visitation services will be at 4:00pm with the funeral service following at 6:00pm at the McCreary Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Sumner and Bro. Bill Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at the Barren Fork Cemetery.
