Mr. Randolph Murphy, age 78, of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed away Friday, August 28, 2015, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.
Mr. Murphy was retired from the U.S. Air Force having served his country for 26 years. He was the chief weather technician for 19 years relaying weather conditions to Air Force One. After retiring and moving back home, he obtained a job at the McCreary Housing Authority in maintenance where he worked for 15 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially four-wheeling. He loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them.
He was born in Pine Knot, Kentucky, on May 13, 1937, to the late Raymond and Agnes (Lovett) Murphy. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by twin daughters: Dorena and Lorena Murphy, daughter Norma Jo Murphy Geary, brothers: Earl and Willie Moore, and a sister Ruth Murphy Strunk.
Surviving family include his wife of 55 years Dorene Perkins Murphy whom he married July 30, 1960, a daughter Jane Murphy Johnson (and husband William) of Chattanooga, Tennessee,Sisters: Sue and Pete Meadors, Phyllis and Larry McAtee, and a Godson Logan Creekmore.
Funeral services: Monday, August 31, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at McCreary County Funeral Home
Officiating: Rev. Dilman Stanley
Interment: Pleasant Run Cemetery.
Visitation: Monday from 11:00 a.m. until time for services.
