RUBEN CLEO "SHORT" PERRY

Ruben Cleo “Short” Perry, age 72, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021, at his home in Whitley City, Kentucky.

Born in Parker's Lake, Kentucky on November 27, 1949, he is the son of the late Willis Henry and Alene Ridner Perry. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Norman James “Fred” Ridner, a brother, William Perry, and a sister, Dora Strait (Orville).

Surviving family include two sons: Jason Perry of Whitley City and Timothy Perry (Kimberly) of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, two daughters: Letha Vanover (Life Partner Jennifer) of Parkers Lake and Christy Goodin of Whitley City.
There are seven brothers: Doyle Boone Perry (Patricia), Lonzo “Didi” Perry (Pauline), Finley Perry (Becky, dec.), James “Tank” Perry, Lester “Check” Perry, and Vernon (Rossie) Perry (Carolyn), all of Parkers Lake and Harold Jones (Judy) of Whitley City,
There are six surviving sisters: Wanda Davis (Russ) of Fostoria, Ohio, Zada Perry (Tom) of Parkers Lake, Rosa Stephens (Jerry) of Parkers Lake, Amy Roth (Steve) of Tiffin, Ohio, Mary Ann Tucker (Rodney) of Parkers Lake and Nenia Tucker (Terry) of Whitley City.
There are five grandchildren: Dakota Vanover, Martikka Vanover, Natasha Goodin, James Bradley “J.B.”Perry, and James “J.T.” Ridner, and three great grandchildren: Landon Coburn, Korben Vanover and Natalyah Rosa Jayelynn Chinaś Rodriguez. Special people in his life are his ex wife, Mossie Ridener, and Benjamin and Melissa Goins and their six children: Brenton, Connor, Carlee, Baylee, Brookelynn and Jayden

Ruben had worked as a general laborer at Kingsford Charcoal Company in Burnside and worked for many years for McCreary Hardwood in Pine Knot. He enjoyed fishing and camping and took great pleasure in spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Tyler Longsworth officiating. Burial will follow at the Eagle Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time for services at 1:00 p.m.
