Shelva Jean Brooks

August 17, 1937 — June 9, 2017

Shelva “Jean” Brooks, age 79, beloved wife of Chester “Ed” Brooks, of Beulah Heights, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June  9, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 17, 1937, the daughter of the late Roy Keith and Martha Leona (McCullah) Keith.  Jean was a homemaker and caregiver, she enjoyed travelling, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader, but what she enjoyed most was her family and grandbabies.  Jean loved all children and enjoyed taking care of them.  Jean attended church services at the First Church of Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her son: Earl Edward Brooks, brothers: Estes Keith and BJ Keith.                 

Surviving family include her husband: Ed Brooks; sons, Chester Ed Brooks, Jr of Lexington, Kentucky and Jack Brooks and wife, Stacie of Winfield, Tennessee; daughters, Jennifer Leona Stork and husband, Dean of Richmond, Kentucky, Nancy Hardy of Michigan, Jody Sedivi and husband, Nick of Whitley City, Kentucky; brothers, ST Keith and wife, Irene of Florence, Kentucky, Erstle Keith and wife, Marie of Corbin, Kentucky, Hoyt Keith and wife, Mary Lou of Stanford, Kentucky, Ralph Keith and wife, Yvonne of Blanchester, Ohio, and Shirrel Keith and wife, Brenda of Lousiville, Kentucky; sister, Carol Branscum; and 14 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 2pm at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Dean Stork and Bro. Braxton King officiating.  Burial to follow in the Higginbotham Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6pm Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Funeral Home.
