Stanley Ray Cox. age 77 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died Friday, June 26, 2026 at the Continued Care Hospital at Baptist Health Corbin.
He was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on November 1, 1948 the son of the late Sheriff Andrew "Andy" Cox and Louise (Strunk) Cox. Stan had owned and operated Stan's Used Cars, was a two term Magistrate, had hauled coal, and was a member of the Lower Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching boxing and NASCAR, but his biggest joy in life were his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Cox; and sisters, Geraldine Cox, and Barbara Maxwell.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Lou (Jones) Cox of Whitley City, Kentucky; sons, Kenneth Ray Cox and Russell Andrew Cox and wife, Sherri both of Whitley City, Kentucky; grandchildren, Brittany Kidd (Matt),Shawn Frazee (Arizona), Cody Ray Cox, Olivia Jones (Alex), and Jessica Cox; great grandchildren, Isabella Kidd, Marley Kidd, Paisley Kidd, Emmalynn Kidd, Lorelai Kidd, and Nora Frazee; sisters, Fayrene Keith of Pine Knot, Kentucky and Brenda Butler of Revelo, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews he considered his own.
Funeral Services will be held 11am Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Casada and Bro. Mark Sewell officiating. Burial will follow in the McCreary County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends after 6pm Monday, June 29, 2026 at the Funeral Home.
