Sue New

Sue New, age 80 years, of the Hilltop Community died Friday, September 29, 2023 at her home.

She was born in Hilltop, Kentucky on September 21, 1943 the daughter of Alex and Allie (Gilreath) Patton. Sue had worked as a cook for the McCrary County School System and was a member of the White Oak Junction United Baptist Church. She was the caretaker for everyone before taking care of herself, loved flowers, cooking for the family which said her dumplings were the best.

Her parents; husband, Joe Odes New; son, Joe Allen New; and brothers, Eugene Patton, Stanley Patton, and Thaddeus Patton precede her in death.

Survivors include her sons, Kenneth New (Ginger) of Hilltop Community and James New (Stephanie) of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee; sister, Faye King of Ludowici, Georgia; grandchildren, Joshua New, Jimmy New, Tristan New, and Ethan New; numerous great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews that she had been like a mother too.

Funeral services will be held 5pm Monday, October 2, 2023 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Jay Patton officiating. Burial to follow in the Hickman Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 3pm Monday at the Funeral Home.
