Willard Burl Murphy

Willard Burl Murphy, age 73, of Pine Knot, Kentucky died Sunday, February 11, 2018 in Somerset, Kentucky at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 16, 2018 at 1pm in the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Sumner officiating. Burial to follow in the Murray Wilson Cemetery.  The family will receive friends after 11am Friday at the funeral home.

He was born in Kingtown, Kentucky on June 28, 1944 the son of William Jess and Betty Lou (Griffis) Murphy. Willard loved watching Gunsmoke, camping, and the outdoors.

He is preceded in death bu his parents; wife, Mary Ethel (Sumner) Murphy; son, Audie Murphy; brothers, Jess Murphy, Jr. and Ed Murphy; sister, Laurabell Murphy; son in law, Patrick Ross; and 1 grandchild.

Survivors include his son, Clifford Murphy of Corbin, Kentucky; daughters, Kathy Worley and husband, Danny of Stearns, Kentucky, Linda Sumner of Beulah Heights, Kentucky, Elizabeth Ross of Stearns, Kentucky, and Annaclay Murphy of London, Kentucky; sisters, Alice Murphy and Georgie Ridner both of Whitley City, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
