Willard "Bill" Sumner

Willard “Bill” Jean Sumner, age 74 years, of Pine Knot, Kentucky died June 24, 2021 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky. He was born in Marshes Siding, Kentucky on May 22, 1947 the son of Jerome and Nellie (Bryant) Sumner. Bill had worked as a Sawyer in Logging, and enjoyed watching Westerns and the Outdoors. His parents; brother, Donnie Sumner; and sisters, Reba Faye Sumner, Myrtle Tucker, Minnie New, and Mary Murphy precede him in death. Survivors include his brothers, Troy Sumner of North Dakota, Roger Sumner of Walton, Kentucky, Earl Sumner and Lonnie Sumner both of Pine Knot, Kentucky; sisters, Lorena “Peanut” Reason of Rocky Mountain, North Carolina and Peggy Sumner of Pine Knot, Kentucky; 17 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2pm Monday, June 28, 2021 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Sumner officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 12pm Monday at the Funeral Home. McCreary County Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
