Walter McKinley Stephens, Jr, age 63 years, of Winfield, Tennessee died November 6, 2020 at the Tennova Turkey Creek in Knoxville, Tennessee.
He was born in Jellico, Tennessee on August 20, 1957 the son of Walter McKinley and Jeanette Gertrude (Douglas) Stephens. Walter was a carpenter, in addition to supervising the building of log homes and FHA homes, he owned his own business, Nationwide Log Home Building, Inc., he is a member of the Hayes Creek Church of God, but attended the Gumfork Community Baptist Church, loved working on cars, mud riding, and building.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Allen Ray Stephens; daughter, Daisy Laura Clark; brothers, William Oliver Stephens, Buddy Ray Stephens, William Leroy Stephens, and Matthew Stephens; sisters, Patsy Ruth Stephens, Vicky Ann Stephens, Geneda Irene Stephens, Shirley Marie Underwood, Carol Dean Privett South, and Rebecca Leona Stephens; and grandchildren, Livy-Libby Lou Higgins and Dylan Dayson.
Survivors include his wife, Tonya Lynn (Jones) Stephens of Winfield, sons, Raymond Sumler, Walter Leroy Stephens (Susan) of Williamsburg, Steven August Bodenstein (Angel) of Cincinnati, Walter Stephen Winchester of Stearns, Mark Bodenstein of Cincinnati, Robbie Godsey (Tonya Maxey) of Winfield, Jerry Taylor (Ginger) of Winfield, Scott Jones of Winfield, and Scott Jones (Sharyl); daughters, Jennifer Lynn Chambers (Jeff), Tanya Wyanette Anderson (Buck), and Charlotte Jones all of Winfield, Jamie Terry (Sean), Marci Navarro (David) and Chrystal Williams (David), Carrie Chitwood; brother, D. In accordance with Walter’s wishes cremation was chosen. Memorial Service will be held by the family at a later date.
